Barefoot running

July 3rd, 2007 · 2 Comments

I am a big fan of barefoot running.  It can be fun, relaxing and can definitely help you get your feet into shape.  When I get the chance I use it, when I don’t, I don’t.

However, I have just come across these guys.  Running Barefoot.org is a site specifically set up for barefoot runners (you could probably guess that!) and they seem like a militant lot.  If there is ever a fire at a running shoe factory, I would send the police to this site to start interviewing suspects.  It is an interesting read though.  Check it out

    Hi,
    What? Me militant?

I am the founder/webmaster of RunningBarefoot.org. I guess in the sense that “The pen (or www) is mightier than the sword” I could well be perceived as militant.

However, I’m really more of a gentle pacifist, which is why I run barefoot, it keeps me running gentle - “foot-strike?” not me, I like my feet. I don’t like striking them, or imprisioning them. I like the earth, so I don’t get militant with the earth either. I’m more of the “walk gently on the earth” type.

    Have fun,

    Hi Barefoot Ken Bob

I hope I didn’t offend you at all. As I said, I am a a part time bare-footer myself, and so I can see the benefits. Its just that I haven’t met such a committed barefoot community before. Keep up the good work.
    Tom
