I love running shoes. I think it is the whole association thing, but just the thought of running shoes makes me happy. Does that sound weird to you, or am I not alone?
Anyhow there is a new kid in town in the world of running shoes and they have bought with them a whole new […]

Bending to Obstacles
June 21st, 2007 · 2 Comments
When something becomes an obstacle to my running, it really makes me think “what is most important to me?” If the obstacle is small then I kick it over because my running is more important. Other times the obstacle is big or important. Sometimes, then, I yield to the obstacle.

Using Running Victories to power your life
June 18th, 2007 · No Comments
Today my wife gave birth to our new son! He is about 3.3kg and a healthy little screamer. The birth went relatively smoothly, but it was still a serious ordeal for my wife. How does she do it?
Before my wife was a mother, she was a marathon runner. This isn’t to say that she is […]

Motivation depends on who you pay attention to
June 15th, 2007 · No Comments
I have just read an very interesting post on Henrik Edberg’s site, ThePositivityblog . It is simply called 25 simple ways to motivate yourself, and so it really caught my attention. As a runner I am constantly looking for new ways to keep myself motivated and moving forward, and I think that there are a few really important points […]

The Budhia Singh lesson
June 14th, 2007 · 1 Comment
Rather than continue the debate on whether India’s youngest marathon runner, 5 year old Budhia Sing should be allowed to run, I thought I would write about something more constructive. I get sick of reading the same old stories re-hashed by 1000 sites worldwide and I am always on the lookout for a new angle. […]

Most mornings before I get out of bed, I try to focus my eyes on the second hand of my watch and count my pulse. This is a difficult thing for me, not the counting, but the focusing of my eyes at that time of morning.
The data that I get from this simple little ritual is well […]

As runners we have aims. There are various levels of aims, from the aim of a particular session, to the aim of a season, and from the aim of a training phase to the aim of a lifestyle. Each of these aims requires a journey. For some the journey can be measured in minutes, for […]

The Pose Method of Running - a pain in the legs?
June 9th, 2007 · No Comments
I was warned and so I should have expected it. It is my own fault, this is what happens when you try and change anything. You simply have to adapt!
I am talking about the sore legs that I am experiencing now that I have begun proper running with the Pose Method. I have been running […]

Do You Visualize When You Run?
June 8th, 2007 · 2 Comments
Since I have been practicing the Pose Method of Running, I have had very little chance to think about anything except, the pose, the fall and the pull (which anyone who has tried the method will be thoroughly familiar with). I have had my time fully occupied, concentrating on my form.
When I am able to […]
